Chitwan Jungle Safari takes you to the heart of Nepal’s southern lowlands that are rich in wildlife, flora, and fauna. Chitwan National Park is a world heritage site covering an area of 360 square miles and a more significant portion of the Chitwan District.
While on this jungle safari, you will be able to witness endangered animals such as the royal Bengal tiger, gharial, one-horned rhinoceros, and Gangetic dolphin, among others. There are also several other species, including elephants, leopards, deers, sloth bears, and monkeys, in the park premises.
Along with animal species, the park is also a haven for birds. There are more than 630 species of birds that include the great pied hornbill and Bengal florican. The park has alluvial grasslands that offer essential habitats for many critically endangered bird species.
Not only the wildlife, but Chitwan Safari also lets you explore the rural life in the Terai region of Nepal. The surrounding settlements are inhabited mainly by Tharu people, and you will get a chance to witness their culture and tradition on this trip.
You have the option of doing the safari via a Jeep ride or an elephant ride. The jeep ride enables you to cover more area, while the elephant ride is a more enjoyable experience for exploring. A professional English-speaking guide will be with you at all times.
If you are looking for a fun-filled wild adventure in Nepal, Chitwan Jungle Safari is a must-do activity.
Itinerary
We begin our Chitwan Safari tour in the morning after having breakfast. We will get on a private vehicle and ride towards the southern part of Nepal. Throughout the ride, we will witness verdant forests, rural settlements, and rivers as we move away from the Himalayas. The transition from the hilly region to the Terai region becomes apparent as the road becomes less zigzag and flatter.
After about 6 hours of ride, we will arrive near the national park. We will first get to our hotel to freshen up and have some food. Next, we will spend some time strolling around the Tharu community and the Rapti river. Our night will be spent in the hotel or resort.
(Meals: Lunch and Dinner)
The second day is the day of Safari, whereby we explore Chitwan national park while riding an elephant. Being seated on the elephant provides you a better view of the surroundings while traveling through the jungle.
After enjoying the safari for a few hours, we will participate in elephant bathing, where we play with elephants in the river. Our day will be spent visiting the Elephant breeding center as well as boating in the Rapti river. We will also watch the tribal dance of Tharu people before returning back to our hotel rooms.
(Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner)
On the third day, we will get back to Pokhara on a deluxe bus, which will take about 6 hours. It is more of the same scenic drive that goes through rural settlements, farmlands, and verdant forests. After returning to Pokhara, our Chitwan Jungle Safari trip will come to an end.
