Thulakot-Begnas Lake hike takes you to some pristine locations and ethnic villages near Begnas Lake. It is a single-day hike that is quite rewarding due to the beautiful views that it offers. As it is a trail not known to many, you will enjoy a less-traveled track that is free from the crowd.
It is also called Thulakot-Kalikasthan hike and it begins from Begnas Lake, where we can reach by a drive from Pokhara. The walk to the location is only about 2 hours, and it is mostly climbing uphill. Kalikasthan is a Gurung settlement that is located in a vantage point. From the village, you can see magnificent views of Machhapuchhre and Annapurna Massif, along with the city of Pokhara. Moreover, you will also be able to see both Begnas and Phewa Lakes from the location.
You can do the Thulakot hike any time of the year. Also, it is an easy hiking trip that anyone can do with a maximum elevation of 1800 meters. If you are looking for a short and rewarding trip on a less crowded route, this hike is for you.
Itinerary
Thulakot day hike begins early in the morning, whereby we will drive up to Begnas on a private vehicle. From there, we will start our hiking, which is mostly ascending. An hour of the climb will bring us to Kalikasthan, which is a small Gurung village. We will continue our ascent from Kalikasthan and reach Thulakot. Notably, Thulkote is a larger Gurung settlement that is situated in a vantage point. We will enjoy the views of the mountains and the valley below at Thulakot.
After spending some time on the hilltop, we will begin descending but on a different route. We will encounter another village of Kaulekot and reach the bottom of the hill at Begnas Lake. A boat ride will bring us to the other side of the lake. From there, we will get on a private vehicle that will bring us back to our hotel in Pokhara.
