Kali Gandaki river originates in the Tibetan Plateau and flows south to reach the Ganges. The name “Kali” comes from the Hindu goddess of destruction. The name probably explains the high number of deep gorges formed by the river.

Itinerary
Our Kali Gandaki rafting trip begins at 7:00 a.m., where we get on a private bus at Lakeside. We will then take a scenic drive for 3 hours before reaching Maldunga, which is the starting point of the rafting. We will unload our bus, pump up the rafts, and head to the river bank.
After reaching the shore, professional guides will brief us about the safety precautions and techniques. We will wear our life jackets and helmets before going into the water with a raft and paddles. Our first encounter will be with two big rapids called “Big Brother” and “Little Brother.” After wrestling with the rapids for 4 to 5 hours, we will arrive at the Riverside camp, where we will spend the night. We can also play sports at the beach and visit the statue of Shiva nearby.

Our second day will be a full day of rafting. After having breakfast, we will head back to the water, where we will encounter the first rapid called ‘Good Morning.’ We will wrestle with many class III rapids throughout the day and also stop for lunch halfway.
