Lower Seti Rafting is a scenic and thrilling rafting trip that goes from the hilly region to the Terai region. Notably, the rafting expedition takes place in the lower part of the Seti River, originating from the Annapurna range. The rafting trip begins at Damauli and ends at Gaighat.
The river offers a beginner-friendly experience that is also fitting for families with kids. However, the rapids still create a thrilling and memorable experience. As you wrestle with the tides, you will also be passing through local villages, rice fields, verdant forests, and waterfalls. At night, you will camp under the stars on a beautiful sandy beach.
The rafting crew will consist of professional kayakers and rafting experts who will also take care of all your food and accommodation needs. Bus transportation will take and to and from the rafting locations. Alternatively, you can go on a Chitwan National Park Safari from Gaighat instead of returning to Pokhara.
The best time for Lower Seti Rafting is between the months of January to May and September to December. In June, July, and August, the rapids are very high, and rafting expeditions are not organized due to safety reasons. This rafting trip is one of the two rafting expeditions in the Seti River, the other being the Upper Seti Rafting.
If you are trying rafting for the first time or are looking for a gentle rafting experience, Lower Seti Rafting might be the perfect trip for you.
Itinerary
We will start the Lower Seti Rafting trip at 7 a.m., whereby we get on the private bus and head towards the location. The scenic drive to the east of Pokhara lasts for about 2 hours before arriving at Damauli, which is the starting point of the rafting.
After reaching the shore, professional guides will brief us about the safety precautions and techniques. We will wear our life jackets and helmets before going into the water with a raft and paddles. The rafting will last for several hours as we witness pristine forests, birds, and wildlife before reaching the Magar village of Saranghat. We will get to the shore below the village and camp there. Our night will be spent in a riverside tent.
(Meals: Lunch and Dinner)
The next day, we will get back to the water after having breakfast. Leaving Seti Khola and entering the Trishuli river, we will encounter an exciting rapid near the confluence. The change in topography will be apparent as we raft across twisted rock formations. After about 4 hours of rafting, we will reach the final destination at Devghat. We will come out of the water and have some lunch before returning to Pokhara, which takes about 4 hours of drive.
